Brain Breaks

Let's Move!

Students stand up and stretch, balance on one leg, do some kicks, etc.

This allows for a quick brain break so when you resume to teaching, students are fully focused and engaged in the activity.

Rock, Paper, Scissors

Students play rock, paper, scissors but with their feet.

Feet together= rock

Feet apart= paper

Feet crossed= scissors

Loser then follows winner around to cheer on the winner as they continue.

Gotcha!

Students stand in a circle with their left palm up and their right pointer finger on the students palm next to them.

Teacher stands outside of the circle with their back to the students and randomly yells "gotcha!"

Students then try and grab the finger of the student next to them while pulling their finger away from whoever is trying to grab theirs.

If their finger is grabbed, the student is out.

Warrior Yoga

Students doing warrior yoga pose and/or perform different yoga moves for a quick and fun brain break.

Knock Knock!

Tell a knock knock joke to gain students attention again.

Ex. Knock knock

Who's there?

Justin

Justin who?

You're Justin time to get back to work!

Clap Name

Students stand in circle,

left palm up, right palm down

Students go around circle greeting person next to them,

"Good morning _______" Good morning (person who just greeted them) while this is happening students are clapping hands

Student then greets person to their left and so forth. 

Only students who are greeting each other are clapping hands.

A Pizza Hut Song

"A Pizza Hut, a Pizza Hut,

Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Pizza Hut,

McDonald's, McDonald's,

A Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Pizza Hut"

During the Pizza Hut, students make a triangle shape over their heads.

During the Kentucky Fried Chicken, students make chicken arms and move them up and down.

During the McDonald's, students make an M shape over their heads.
