Summary of Content Knowledge
Grammar is the structure of a language and how sentences, paragraphs, and stories are formed. Each sentence have different parts of speech. These parts include: noun, pronoun, verb, adverb, adjective, conjunction, preposition, and interjection. A noun is a person, place, or thing. A pronoun is a noun that can be substituted for a noun or a noun phrase. A verb is an action. An adverb is a word that modifies for qualifies as an adjective. An adjective is a describing word. A conjunction is the instance of two or more events happening at the same time. A preposition are words such as on, after, or for. An interjection is an abrupt remark. Not every sentence, will have all eight of these parts of speech. The more complex the sentence is, the more parts of speech that will be in found in that sentence.
Apps
Grammar Jammers
It is a great app for primary level students. The app has a song explaining the parts of a sentence that allow for comprehension. It is a fun way to learn about the parts of sentences and will allow the students to test their skills on what those parts of speech are.
With students, I would use this app whole class as another form of teaching the different concepts of grammar. This app helps to touch on multiple intelligences by using songs and being very interactive.
Language Builder
This app is designed to help teach kids basic language skills: receptivity, comprehension, reading others' people intentions and word association. It collects all the data from the student allowing the teacher to check and analyze graphs and reports of the progress in order to further imrpove the students success.
With students, I would use this app as a writing center. This would give students ample time to practice their grammar and seeing many different aspects of it being used within the app. This could be used as a "grammar hunt" activity. Much like a word hunt, students would search throughout the app for a target grammar piece.
Sentence Builder
Sentence builder is designed to help elementary aged children learn how to build grammatically correct sentences. Explicit attention is paid to the connector words that make up over 80% of the english language. This app will allow for a fun environment for improving the grammar.
This is a great app to help students develop their grammar skills. I would most likely use this app as both whole class work and individual work during center time. This app helps students to learn the most frequently occurring grammar pieces.

Strategies
Grammar On The Go
The strategy helps the students learn the nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Students write nouns in blue, verbs in red, and adjectives in green. Begin this strategy by going over the different parts of speech with students and identifying these different parts. Then, have students write their own sentences using the color code explained above.
Grammar song list
Help the students bring excitement into grammar instruction. They can help introduce a concept or be played in the background to get in the students memory. These songs can be found at: http://www.songsforteaching.com/grammarspelling.htm
Fanboys
Teach students what Fanboys stands for and why we use it. Allow the students to write their own Fanboys sentences with minimal parameters on the context of their sentences. Students will learn and understand what fanboys stands for: For, and, nor, but, or, yet, so sentences.
Parts of Speech Rhyme
Students can choral read the parts of speech rhyme so they learn information about parts of speech. With repeated reading, students will be able to remember what each part of speech is. The parts of speech rhyme can be found at: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/3324307
The Human Sentence: Simple, Compound, and Complex Sentences
Teach students about simple, compound, and complex sentences. Students will then act out different simple, compound, and complex sentences. One student will be the subject, another the verb, and once you work up to the compound and complex sentences add in words such as but, while, etc. More examples for this lesson can be found at: http://www.ncte.org/library/NCTEFiles/Groups/TYCA/TYCA_Tour/TYCASW_Walter_WordPeople.pdf
Website
http://www.funbrain.com/grammar/
This website has games for students to help work on grammar. There is a beginner level that works with only nouns and verbs and there is an advanced section that works on all parts of speech. The students will be given a sentence such as this one: The brown grizzly bear dove into the freezing river. The directions would have them click on a specific part of speech. For this specific example the student would have to click on the adjective. The student would look at the words and click on the word freezing. In the future, I would use this website as a whole class activity for students to learn grammar.
